Mówienie o poezji Markiewicza jako o osamotnionej wysepce wysokojakościowego nadrealizmu nie oddaje sprawiedliwości jej wewnętrznemu zróżnicowaniu. Surrealizm nie panował w niej niepodzielnie i nie był, jak się zdaje, skutkiem decyzji o „zostaniu poetą surrealistycznym”. Stanowił raczej pochodną filozofii twórczości i człowieka, którą Markiewicz wyznawał, czy może którą tworzył na swój prywatny rachunek – fragment posłowia do tomu „Aaa!…”.
